Telecommunications Construction License Qualifier
POSITION SUMMARY
Glass Roots Construction (GRC) was founded in 2022 by a team of career telecom and construction professionals and is in need of a Telecommunications Construction License Qualifier to help us flourish. GRC looks to leverage the latest technologies and utilize the best-in-industry equipment, construction, and safety practices to build a first-class nationwide fiber optic construction firm. The successful candidate should hold a current contractor’s license in AZ (A-17), NM (GF-9), CA (Class A Engineering), UT (B100, E100, S410), NV (A-19C) and/or CO (multiple counties) and be excited to support GRC’s growth into new markets as a qualifier. This position includes some flexibility of level and responsibility depending on the additional skills and experience of the individual.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Telecommunications Construction License Qualifier will bring existing construction license qualifications in AZ (A-17), NM (GF-9), CA (Class A Engineering), UT (B100, E100, S410), NV (A-19C) and/or CO (multiple counties) and have the aptitude and interest to qualify in additional geographies as needed. This role may expand into a strategic leadership position depending on the skillsets of the individual, or may remain an individual contributor role focused solely on managing our compliance and licenses within various states, cities, and counties.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support the acquisition of additional licenses as a qualifier for telecommunications construction services through robust understanding of licensing expectations by geography (state, county, city, etc.).
- Study for and pass license qualifying exams on behalf of GRC.
- Manage and monitor licenses and renewal processes for all GRC qualifiers, ensuring backup and expertise for every market.
- Maintain licenses per applicable renewal processes ensuring we maintain 100% compliance in each market.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of telecommunications construction techniques, materials, and industry standards.
- Provide technical guidance and training curriculum to ensure the construction teams are performing to all standards and methodologies required of state and local authorities.
- Evaluate and approve subcontractor qualifications and work quality.
- Thoroughly review project plans and specifications to ensure compliance with local regulations.
- Monitor construction activities to identify potential violations and address them promptly.
- Maintain documentation of project compliance including permits, inspections, and approvals.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Existing state contractor’s licenses in in AZ (A-17), NM (GF-9), CA (Class A Engineering), UT (B100, E100, S410), NV (A-19C) and/or CO (multiple counties) that are active, in good standing, and available to be used to support the licensing of GRC for telecommunications construction services.
- Experience in and licensing in adjacent pacific, mountain, and central US geographies welcomed.
- Background in telecommunications and/or utility construction either in the field or in project management roles, etc.
- Strong desire to learn and grow as GRC expands into new markets.
- Verifiable experience in project management, operations, or business management.
- Ability to maintain a high level of organization by ensuring daily job allocation.
- Ability to determine potential risks while devising proactive ways to solve them.
- Ability to welcome feedback and use it to improve the quality of production.
- Excellence in verbal and oral communication skills.
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Process and documentation orientation, with a focus on continuous improvement
- Experience with Google Suite (Sheets, etc.), Zoho, and project management tools a plus
